AWCL School Board Election Details:

Nominations can be made through April 4 at midnight. Our election committee will then reach out to each nominee to confirm that they are eligible to run, and gather information for our voting ballot.

When all nominees have been contacted, our Election Committee will share information about each candidate as we prepare to vote on May 6. New board members will be invited to attend our June board meeting and be officially seated for our August board meeting.

The AWCL Board of Directors follows Roberts Rules of Order, Minnesota Open Meeting Laws, the Carver Governance Model, and requires a teacher majority. Our board make-up must include 4 teachers, 2 parents, and 1 community member. An eligible nominee must fit into one of these categories described below:

Teacher Representative Board Member: must be a licensed teacher that is currently working in a teaching position at AWCL.

Parent Representative Board Member: must be a parent or guardian of a child currently enrolled at AWCL, cannot work at AWCL or be married to someone working at AWCL.

Community Representative Board Member: must not work at AWCL or have children enrolled at AWCL or be married to an employee at AWCL.

This year we have 4 board members finishing a 1, 2 or 3 year term (Shanna Reiners, Tom Nord, Chris Allery, Anyea Hake) They can be nominated by themselves or a member of the school community to run for another term. Other school community members can also be nominated by themselves or a member of the school community to run for one of these open positions.

Board positions that are open for nomination are:

• TWO Teacher Representative board members

• TWO Parent Representative board members

School Board Election is on May 6, 2025
